Dear Mr. Axelrod,
First, thank you for sending me this warning. I did indeed watch the president’s speech in Egypt with great trepidation. The speech did not turn out nearly as bad as I personally had feared. Had President Obama continued his apology tour from the last foreign visit to Europe, I fear our position with the Muslim world would have been dealt a death blow. Muslims have no patience for weakness. President Obama has taken a very weak stance thus far, with respect to foreign policy. He has shamed me and all patriotic Americans proud of what our country has done in 240 years to advance the cause of freedom. He didn’t cross the line today, although he came very close to doing so.
His speech today, though still pandering to the wider body of Muslims, was not apologetic with respect to the terrorists, although he avoided saying the words terror, terrorism, terrorist activity, war on terror, or anything else not overwhelmingly in favor of the Koran, a document fraught with references to jihad and giving the militants religious rights to persecute, and even kill infidels at will, for the purpose of spreading their faith. This goes against everything American. President Obama also threw the Israeli’s under the bus, particularly Netanyahu, who desperately needs the support of the American administration now, with Iran threatening to destroy their country, and in fact, wipe Israel off the face of the earth. These statements were made by the President of Iran and are supported by the militant clergy in Iran, who hold the real power with those people.
The president also said in his speech today that Iran has a right to use nuclear power for peaceful purpose, and while that may be true in some cases, the Iranians have done absolutely nothing in more than 30 years that would indicate they will follow the nuclear treaties, or pay any attention to international law at all. He basically green lighted the Iranians to move forth with their nuclear program, just as he has done nothing to stop North Korea from nuclear proliferation, other than write strongly worded letters. That, as have all his policies, proved to be totally inept. I fear for the lives of every American, as well as the Israelis, and all of the Eastern hemisphere, with these rogue governments becoming nuclear powers. To cut back on missile defense spending at this time, while inflicting a 3.8 trillion dollar budget on the American people in their weakest moment, is an atrocity perpetuated by a politician gone mad with the power of the presidency and a complicit congress.
The mandate for change represented by the elections of 2008 in no way meant the American people were ready to turn our nation into a weak limp wristed pacifist socialist democracy, modeled after European democracies who failed their citizens for most of the 20th century and now represent the worse of all possible national governments, not controlled by dictators.
We are headed down a road that will result in the end of America as a world leader. We are losing our personal freedom, our constitution is being disregarded, and we are fast becoming a non factor in the 21st century world. We are stopping our space exploration, while we spend the vast majority of tax receipts to pay for those who refuse to work. Entitlement programs breed people who need welfare. Freedom and capitalism breed entrepreneurs. This has been proven throughout the history of the United States. Since the president is a constitutional scholar, I can only assume he is perpetrating these ideals because he hates the free system of government, and hopes to change America into a huge nanny state. As such I will do everything within my power to see that he is defeated in the elections of 2012. I will further do everything within my power to defeat every federal legislator that supports his policies. This includes all democrats and many republicans.
I am a part of what until now was the silent majority. I have never been involved in politics in my 55 years. From this point forward, I dedicate my life to defeating all political hacks who have assaulted my constitution and my country. This includes you, and every democrat in the Obama administration, every democrat member of the Senate, every democrat representative in the House, and even some moderate republicans who voted in favor of the Stimulus bill, support federalizing our medical system, and continue to vote in favor of interfering with private business. The government should limit itself to those things spelled out by the framers of the constitution, leaving all other laws to the states.
After removing the current majority from the federal government our second priority is to repeal the 16th amendment thereby abolishing the federal income tax, and starving the federal government into control. The third priority is to implement single term limits on all elected offices, thereby ending the age of the career politician. We are about taking our country back from a government gone mad with power, crazy with spending, and stupid with respect to taxing productivity, and ignoring sound economic principles. I certainly hope you take to heart my words here, and know that I represent not a splinter group of activists, but the majority of Americans who have for the last 40 years provided the productivity, the tax money, and the power of the people during a lifetime of good citizenship.
WE the people of the United States will assume our rightful place of power in this country. We have left this to career politicians for too long. As such we have allowed you to grow out of control, where you believed the government has the power and not the people. Thomas Jefferson said, “when the people fear the government, that is tyranny, when the government fears the people, that is liberty.” We are living in a time when the government holds no fear of the people. That is going to change. Slowly at first perhaps, but by Jan 20, 2012 you will not recognize the federal government. We will prevail.
The elections are coming,
Steve Shirk
Hello -
As a Senior Advisor to the President, I'm here in Cairo, Egypt where I watched President Obama deliver an unprecedented speech calling for a new beginning for the United States and Muslim communities around the world.
We all know that there has been tension between the United States and some Muslim communities. But, as the President said this morning, if all sides face the sources of tension squarely and focus on mutual interests, we can find a new way forward.
The President outlined some big goals for this new beginning in his speech -- including disrupting, dismantling, and defeating violent extremism. It was a historic speech, and since many Americans were asleep at the time it was given we wanted to make sure you had a chance to see it:
Majority-Muslim countries around the world are filled with extraordinary people who simply want to live their lives and see their children live better lives, just as in America. Indeed, part of what makes America great is having nearly seven million Muslim Americans living here today and enriching our culture and communities.
We can extend that kind of relationship abroad. It won't always be easy, but if we make an effort to bridge our differences rather than resigning ourselves to animosity, we can move toward a more peaceful world over time.
Thank you,
David Axelrod
