Letter To Senator Mark Udall

Dear Senator Udall,

Your response pasted below does not go far enough with respect to your responsibility. First and foremost you have a responsibility to read the legislation you vote for or against. You are not doing that with some of these 1200 to 1500 page bills. This is an absolute outrage. You have a constitutional responsibility to uphold the constitution. How can you do that if you cast votes, either way, for legislation you have not read.

While I do agree that our health care system in this country has some issues, it is still the absolute top of the line with respect to the rest of the world. If Congress isn't very careful, especially in avoiding a public pay option, you will destroy that which makes the American system far and away the most advanced. We have the best pharmaceutical industry because it is based on profit seeking entrepreneurs. We have the very best in advanced procedural medicine and research, because the industry is dominated by profit seeking entrepreneurial industry. This is the basis for the greatness of America. Please do not forget that fact.

Should the 111th Congress assault the citizens of this country with a health care option run by and paid for by the government, you will destroy that profit seeking entrepreneurial spirit of industrial excellence, thereby ruining the health care system that has provided the vast majority of medical discovery in the last century.

We are a great country because we have a capitalist system of economic and governmental minimalization that has led us to be the greatest nation the Earth has ever known. The 111th Congress appears to be intent on destroying everything that has made us great. While I cannot pretend to fully understand the reasons behind these atrocities, I do know that if you succeed in ruining our nation we will rise up and remove the government using the vote and the American system of the peaceful transfer of government. Make no mistake, we are going to change this government. The democrats apparently learned nothing in the elections of 006 and 2008. You seem to forget that President Obama ran on a moderate platform, not the far left Socialistic, near Fascist lunatic agenda he is pursuing.

The republicans were defeated explicitly because they abandoned the fiscal responsibility and conservative doctrines that have been a part of the republican agenda for decades. When we voted for change, we believed the democrats had sense enough to understand why the republicans were removed from power. It has been said that the people get the government they deserve, and while I believe that to be true generally speaking, in this case I think it has happened because the democrats had not sense enough to understand the issues.

Now that we have been abandoned by both major parties, it appears we have no choice but create a third party. This may not be possible in one election cycle, but I can promise you this. The democratic party in the country has reached the beginning of the end of its existence.

The crux of the immediate problem is that we can roll back every stupid decision you have made to this point. We can even roll back the cap and tax assault, if that happens to pass the Senate, but once implemented, a socialized health care system will not be possible to remove. We have three major entitlement programs in this country today that are unsustainable; Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Contrary to your statement, the current private health care system in this country is sustainable, and has been for the entire history of the nation. That will not change if you numskulls in Congress don't screw it up. However, once you implement a government pay system, we will be stuck with it forever.

We cannot afford to embark on a recovery of this economic tsunami, caused in large part by the House Finance committee's actions in forcing mortgage lenders to loan money to those unable to pay the money back. This is doubly true if we are saddled with a government option health care system, the trillion dollar bailouts, the trillion dollar stimulus acts, the 3.8 trillion budget, the burden of the largest single tax increase in the history of the free world via the cap and tax, (no tax according to you) plan, federal involvement with education, federal involvement with Government Motors, bankruptcy law, immigration reform that will legalize and pay the medical expenses, education, and welfare for 20 million illegal aliens, and a host of other federal regulations and legislation that will no doubt cripple our economy, our country, and most critical of all; our individual liberty.

The best thing you could do for us as Senators, is to go home and stay there until your term is up, passing only those bills absolutely necessary to keep the government running until we can get some people in Congress that have held real jobs, run their own businesses, have a little common sense, and owe no political favors to lobbyists, other corrupt politicians, campaign donors, and each other.

As a people we have allowed the Congress to grow into a totally inept body, passing legislation they cannot or will not read, don't understand, is contrary to the good of the country, and in violation of your oath to protect and defend the Constitution .

The elections are coming and you are going away,
Steve Shirk
